Ruane Welcomes Funding for Renewable Heat Scheme

SINN Féin South Down MLA Caitriona Ruane has welcomed the announcement by Energy Minister Arlene Foster of the implementation of a long-awaited financial incentive scheme for renewable heat installations.

The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) has a budget of around £25million up to 2015 and will provide long term financial support for non-domestic properties wishing to switch from conventional heating to renewable heating solutions, such as biomass; heat pumps and solar thermal.

Ms Ruane said: “With many consumers looking for ways to incorporate renewable energy as a method of heating businesses and non-domestic properties, this scheme will enable them to select the latest technology at an affordable price. It is vital that schemes such as this are utilised as they not only provide valuable assistance to those installing heat systems, but they are offering a sustainable heating option fit for the 21st century.”
