South Down MP for South Down Margaret Ritchie (SDLP) has written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Secretary of State for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy requesting they make public all correspondence the British Government has had with the NI Executive regarding the implementation of the RHI.
Ms Ritchie has said: “The First Minister’s arrogant and self-serving statement to the Assembly as it closed for the Christmas break failed to answer any of the serious questions facing her. The RHI scandal and the DUP’s attempts to duck responsibility have thrown our political institutions into disrepute, both at home and abroad.
“The people of Northern Ireland deserve nothing less than all the facts pertaining to this scandal. That is why I have used my position as an MP to seek publication of all correspondence and communication that took place between the Treasury and the then Department for Energy and Climate Change regarding the RHI in Northern Ireland, to help us establish who knew what and when.
“I will make public whatever response I receive from the Government and will continue working with my party colleagues in the SDLP to pursue every avenue possible to hold the Executive to account.”
