Resusitation team to provide a CPR training event at Ards Shopping Centre for public
To mark ‘Restart a Heart Day’ on 16 October 2023, staff from the Resuscitation Team in the South Eastern Trust will be holding an event on the mall in Ards Shopping Centre.
They will be offering Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillator training to members of the public.
The event will provide an opportunity for practical hands-on CPR training using manikins and to learn about the importance of defibrillator’s and how they work.
The event will run from 10.00am–2.00pm and everyone is invited to come along and support the team to create a nation of lifesavers!
The team will be onsite to provide hands-on CPR training and will teach the signs of a cardiac arrest, how to perform chest compressions and how an AED works.
The team will also be available to answer any questions about life-saving techniques.
Highlighting the importance of CPR and defibrillator training, Resuscitation Officer, Heidi Spence said: “Survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest remain stubbornly low across the United Kingdom, with fewer than one in 10 people surviving.
“We want to change that.
“Restart a Heart Day raises awareness about cardiac arrest and helps people learn CPR, providing them with life-saving skills and the confidence to use them.
“I would encourage everyone to come along on the day and learn these vital life-saving skills, it will be a day of education, empowerment and community unity as we celebrate Restart a Heart Day.
“Together, we can make our community a safer place for everyone.”
Restart a Heart Day is an event held every year on or around 16 October.
Many thousands of people across the United Kingdom and many more worldwide, come together to increase public awareness of cardiac arrests and increase the number of people trained in life-saving CPR and defibrillator use.
