Police in Kilkeel are investigating two arson attacks in the town overnight.
Shortly after 2.20am this morning, Wednesday 11th May, police received a report that a car had been set on fire in Newry Street. It is believed a petrol bomb was used to set fire to the car.
Just over an hour later, police received a report that an unoccupied house in Carn Gardens had been set on fire. The living room window had been broken and rubbish set alight in the living room.
Both blazes were extinguished by the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.
Detective Inspector Colin Patterson said: I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the Newry Street or Carn Gardens areas in the early hours of this morning, or who may have information about the incidents, to contact police in Kilkeel on 101.
“Alternatively, information can be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
