More investment in front line staff is the public’s top priority for Health and Social Care services, according to the Patient and Client Council’s ‘People’s Priorities’ report.

“People feel that hospitals do not have enough nursing and medical staff to cope with demands on the service, particularly inpatient wards and Accident and Emergency units.
“People want to understand how money is being spent and it’s up to decision makers to demonstrate to people they are listening.”
The report also shows that people want waiting times to be shorter and want assurances around the quality of care. People noted a range of concerns with hospital care, such as hospital cleanliness and poor treatment.
The Patient and Client Council is looking to the decision makers to reflect the people’s priorities in the planning and delivery of services for the coming year. Now more than ever, its important the public are properly engaged in decisions about the future of services.
