Dear Editor,
Re: NSPCC thanks people of Co Down for a record-breaking Letter from Santa
Children’s charity the NSPCC is thanking its supporters in Co Down for helping to raise a record-breaking £1.82m (including Gift Aid) during the festive season and helping to support many local children and families who need a little extra help. The charity had yet another successful year with the festive fundraising initiative ‘Letter from Santa’ which gives people the chance to send someone special a magical letter from Santa for a suggested donation of £5, and in Northern Ireland 8375 children received a personalisedand illustrated letter delivered by ‘reindeer mail’. Clare Galbraith, our community fundraising manager for the NSPCC, said: “We want to say a big thank you to everyone who took part in this year’s Letter from Santa campaign, helping us to raise an incredible amount of money, which will go towards supporting our vital projects and services to protect vulnerable children. £1.82m is the most we’ve ever raised though this campaign and we simply wouldn’t be able to continue to run our services without the generous support from members of the public.” The money raised will help the NSPCC to save, change and improve the lives of children all year round through its local community services, a helpline for adults worried about a child and ChildLine – the UK’s free, confidential 24-hour helpline and online service dedicated to children and young people.
