John Lowry – a new vision for the way forward.[/caption]
Local woodworker, Ards-based wood turner John Lowry has challenged himself with a fresh, new approach to design, reflecting energy and a fresh way of thinking.
This style will be demonstrated, in Ards Crafts, in his upcoming exhibition in Ards Crafts, ‘New Growth’, beginning on Saturday 1 November.
Organised by Ards Crafts, Ards Borough Council’s Craft Development Service, Meet the Maker features different crafts people each month, revealing their inspirations, designs, processes and techniques in exhibitions, workshops and demonstrations.
Heather Parker, Craft Development Manager for Ards Borough Council, said: “John is always looking at different mediums and techniques to build upon his woodturning. Using colour and other mediums to build dramatic effects and embellish his turnings and sculptural pieces. I encourage folk to come along to see for themselves.”
‘New Growth’ will be exhibited from Saturday 1 November – Saturday 29 November in Ards Craft and Design Centre, 31 Regent Street, Newtownards (entrance via the Visitor Information Centre). Admission is free. John will be delivering an Artist Talk to accompany his exhibition on Saturday 29 November from 11am – 1pm at Ards Crafts.
