Mayobridge Singer Sophie Makes Red Carpet In London

Sophie Lennon from Mayobridge shines in the red carpet at glitzy gala night in London with support from Action for Children

Mayobridge musical sensation Sophie Lennon took to the stage last week for a cause close to her heart.

Sophie is a Young Carer for her brother Connor and has received support from leading local charity Action for Children for a number of years.

On Thursday (14 November) she travelled to London with her parents to sing at the glitzy art deco Sheraton Grand Hotel in the heart of London’s bustling Piccadilly.

Guests were immersed in a night of glamour and entertainment, whilst raising vital funds for vulnerable children and young people.

Sophie Lennon from Mayobridge sang ‘Vincent’ at the Starry Night Gala for the Action for Children charity event packed with celebrities at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in London.

Celebrities in attendance included Angela Rippon CBE, Vanessa Feltz, Kelsey Parker, Ronnie Archer-Morgan, Debbie Bright and Olivia Cox and the audience was mesmerised with Sophie’s emotional performance of ‘Vincent’ by Don McLean.

Speaking about the importance of the event, host Louise Boyce, aka Mamma’s Still Got It, said: “While many parents will go above and beyond to ensure their children have a magical childhood – the winter months bring in additional costs for families that are already struggling to make ends meet.

“With rising bills and the added pressure of Christmas around the corner, some parents face the heartbreaking reality of not being able to afford essentials like warm winter clothes and hot, nutritious meals for their children.

“It’s great that there is help available through Action for Children, but they simply couldn’t do what they do without fundraising events like the Starry Night Gala and the generosity of the public.”

There are currently 4.3 million children in the UK living in poverty, including almost 1 in 4 children in Northern Ireland. Some may wake up on Christmas morning to nothing but a cold house.

The Starry Night Gala will help to raise awareness for Action for Children’s Secret Santa campaign, which helps provide vulnerable children with warm clothes, a hot meal or a Christmas present just for them.
