Following several attempts at arson in flats owned by the NI Housing Executive, a 49-year-old man was arrested by detectives investigating a report of recent fire at residential premises at the Saul Street area of Downpatrick in the early hours of Friday morning. He has subsequently been released on bail pending further enquiries. The NIHE had fully decorated the block of four flats in Saul Street at McLaughlin House following an arson attempt last May when a wheelie bin was taken in to the ground floor and set ablaze causing extensive smoke damage and a possible threat to the lives of the six tenants in the flats. There had also been one incident prior to that and also another small arson attempt. This recent attempt has led to the arrest.]]>
