Major Road Resurfacing Scheme Starts In Mayobridge

Transport NI has started work on a £195,000 resurfacing scheme on the B8 Newry road, through Mayobridge village.

dn_screenThe scheme which will be completed in eight weeks will improve the quality of almost one kilometre of the road surface and also improve the footways and drainage on this stretch of road.

The completed scheme will also include the replacement and addition of red textured surfacing and improved road markings highlighting the school patrol crossing and 30mph village entry points.

In order to facilitate the works and ensure the safety of workers and the public, lane closures and a two week road closure will be required to complete the surfacing works. The actual dates of the planned closure will be published in advance of the commencement of any road closure.

During the periods of the road closure access will be made available on request to residents and to local businesses within the length of the closure but it should be appreciated that some delays will be inevitable.

Road users are asked to obey the road closure and direction signs at all times and to continue to cooperate with site personnel in the interests of safety whilst these improvement works are being carried out.

The work commenced on Wednesday 30 September 2015 and is expected to be substantially completed on Friday 27 November 2015.

The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and Roads Service will keep the public informed of any change.
