It does not get much better than this for Killyleagh manager Paul Sharvin after another derby win.
His YC side followed up an early season 5-0 win over Comber with a convincing victory at Parkway on Saturday.
Killyleagh took the lead through Jack Sharvin but it could be easy to forget the springboard for the attack was a stunning save from YC keeper Aaron Carberry low to his left to repel Comber.
From Comber’s corner, Killyleagh sprung a counter attack of stunning pace. The impressive Lee Morrison found himself with 20 yards to run in to. His inch-perfect pass to Jack Sharvin allowed him to square up his defender before slotting past the Comber keeper Darrington.
Not to be outdone, next up was Sharvin’s big brother Jamie. He raced through from a pass and lobbed the ball past the home keeper.
Killyleagh added a third just before the half time interval when Adam Neale’s goal-bound header was deflected in by a Comber defender.
Neale got the goal with his work rate and performance deserved. A long punt up the field caught the Comber defence flat-footed but Neale was on the end with a great finish.
Sharvin introduced teenager Dylan Kelly to the game, following in his father Barry’s footsteps in turning out for the whites and he created a chance for Neale to complete his hat-trick at the death but it just wasn’t to be.
Comber were reduced to 10 men when substitute Stuart Hanna was given his marching orders just seven minutes after coming on.
The strikers will claim the plaudits along with the midfield for a solid performance, but Macauley Foster and Niall Walsh in the centre of the YC defence were outstanding. Comber did have their opportunities but failed to capitalise on them.
Next up for Killyleagh is a return to The Showgrounds and a first encounter in Division 1A with one of their bogey teams, the Malachians.
