SERC Host Horticulture Webinar.
South Eastern Regional College (SERC) are hosting a webinar to introduce the range of gardening and horticulture courses available for potential students on Wednesday 24 June from 11.00am – 12.00noon.
Claire Dunwoody, Horticulture Lecturer at SERC said, “The garden has been an extension both to home and leisure since the middle of March this year and the amazing weather has encouraged more people to get out an make the most of the space.
“The wonderful thing about gardening is that everyone can get involved, whether you live in an apartment and have a have a window box or a few containers, an average family garden or something larger and more mature, or access to a local allotment, getting outside and growing gives great satisfaction.
“At SERC, we have a range of programmes to suit everyone, from the beginner through to more experienced gardeners. The learning never stops in gardening whether you garden for the sheer pleasure, want to grow your own vegetables, design your garden to suit your lifestyle or want to develop your skills and knowledge for a career in the horticulture sector, we have a course for you.”
Claire, who was recently interviewed on BBC Radio Ulster’s Gardner’s Corner with David Maxwell about the planned Horticulture Therapy Garden at the College’s Holywood Campus said: “The webinar will be an opportunity to hear about the courses from our Horticulture team.
“You will be able to ask any questions about programmes commencing in September 2020 including the full-time BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Horticulture and part-time courses RHS Level 2 Certificate in Horticulture; OCN Level 2 Awards in Organic Fruit and Vegetable Growing, Garden Design or Floral Art which is also available at Level 3; and, OCN Autumn and Winter Gardening or Spring and Summer Gardening.”
