Match Report  5th October 2013

James Neill reports from Ballymacarn Park

A rather one sided affair occurred on Saturday as Hinch U-13s demolished reigning cup winners Rainey OB at home on Saturday. It has to be said that the calibre of the Rainey OB team that took the field on Saturday was very different from the one that breezed through all tournaments last year but credit must go to the Hinch team who produced a clinical first half display to kill the game off before the break.dn_screen

The result looked ominous from the start with centre Jack Ferris and wingers Yasin Ouldhamlat and Brandon Brechin scoring three tries in the opening ten minutes to all but end the game. Tenacious centre Ben Ogle stretched for the line to add a fourth and strong prop Ross Morrison barged over the line after a particularly impressive drive to leave the score 29-0 in favour of the hosts.

In the second half, the home side took the opportunity to give some new blood a chance and inevitably this led to a slightly tighter game. Rainey managed their solitary score in  the right corner after a series of missed tackles from the Hinch defence. However, not to be outdone, Hinch replied with further scores from captain Kyle Gill and the ever lively Ben Ogle.

The game saw the debuts of three new players, Niall Donaldson, Michael Clarke and Ciaron Brennan who will surely add to the strength and skills of the squad in the coming months. Notable performances came from the two centres Ferris and Ogle, who tackled incredibly well, however, a very solid performance from stand in out-half Eoin McCartan just sees him pip the man of the match award.

Final Score: Ballynahinch U-13   41    Rainey OB U-13     5
