The Down Community Health Committee has invited all of the main political parties to take part in a discussion with a questions and answer session in the St Patrick Centre in Downpatrick at 7pm on Tuesday 12 April 2016.
The meeting is intended to afford an opportunity to members of the public to hear the views of those who would lead our health service and to question them directly.
Down Community Health Committee spokesperson Anne Trainor said: “Over the past three months, senior representatives from the TUV, DUP, Alliance Party, Ulster Unionist Party, SDLP and Sinn Féin have all visited the Downe Hospital to see at first hand the excellent facilities in the People’s Hospital.
“All of the politicians were highly impressed with what they saw and appreciated that the £65million grossly under-utilised facility has enormous potential to provide additional services locally and regionally.
“Of course the Downe Hospital is an excellent hospital with a significant range of services available. We would urge anyone who is referred for investigation or procedure in another hospital to check with their GP to see if the service they require is available in our local Downe Hospital. Where appropriate, insists own the Downe Hospital.”
Mrs Trainor encouraged local people to come out in large numbers and attend the the meeting tomorrow evening (12 April) at 7 pm in the St Patrick’s Centre.
Anne Trainor added: “Admission is FREE, but if you you want to come along, please ring 028 44 614340 and leave your name, address and telephone number and the number of tickets you require with the receptionist.”
