Speaking ahead of Thursday’s event, the local South Down MP said it was a “unique opportunity to engage directly with European decision makers and fellow Irish parliamentarians on the wide range of Brexit related issues that are already beginning to affect life throughout Ireland, and indeed locally in South Down.
Mr Hazzard added: “The final outcome of the withdrawal negotiations between the British Government and European Union will be hugely significant to all aspects of life here in Ireland. Therefore, it is vital that Irish political representatives are given a voice at every stage of those talks.
“During the recent Westminster election campaign, Sinn Féin stressed that it would be vital to have strong voices heard in Dublin and Brussels as the Brexit catastrophe unfolded. We were the only party with the political strength in Dublin, and indeed in Brussels to ensure local voices were not silent.
“So I’m delighted that within only a few months of having been elected by the people of South Down, I have been given the opportunity to voice local concerns directly with the European Brexit Coordinator in Dublin this week and I will be out in Brussels early next month once more to keep South Down issues on the radar of European decision-makers.
