Mr.Hazzard said: “The meeting follows previous engagements with the two Departments about the site which has been a popular tourist attraction for anglers from across Ireland. However, angling users of the Quoile had been experiencing problems when seals had been entering the pondage and feeding off the angling stock.

“The meeting will provide an up-date on work carried out to remedy this issue and discussions will begin about the broader development of the area as an international tourist destination for the angling community.

“With angling representing a potential growth area in terms of our tourism product here in Down, I am keen to explore ways that both DCAL and DARD can provide assistance with developing the areas potential.

“I will be joined by local anglers who have a unique in-sight into the needs of visitors and locals using the site.”
