Infrastructure Minister Chris Hazzard today announced the completion of a new section of footway near Christ the King Primary School, Drumaness.
The work included connecting a 260 metre section of the footway along the A24 Newcastle Road plus the installation of a new bus shelter.
Speaking during a visit to the new section of footpath, Chris Hazzard said: “This new footway along this busy stretch of the Newcastle Road near Drumaness is good news for all of the local community. It will improve accessibility and safety for pedestrians, including school children on their daily commute.
“Projects like this show the importance of maintaining and developing our infrastructure and delivering services that improve the quality of life for everyone in the North. Connecting people and opportunities through our infrastructure is a key outcome of the Programme for Government which I and my Executive colleagues are keen to deliver on.”
The Principal of Christ the King Primary School, Mrs Fay said: “I and other parents are delighted to have this footway completed. This will make a big difference to the daily school commute.”
