ACPRFL Loughinisland II’s 2-09 Bryansford II’s 1-15 Bryansford made difficult work of disposing of a stubborn Loughinisland team, who fought back, from a seven point deficit, to leave a solitary point between the sides, with just minutes remaining. [caption id="attachment_27625" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Conor Megoran in action."][/caption] For the first twenty five minutes it was nip and tuck with the sides cancelling each other’s scores. Two great saves by Loughinisland keeper, Chris Turley, kept his side in the game; the first a full length dive to his right to push away Marc Brannigan’s low drive and the second standing tall to body block Jamie Mc Kibben’s effort. But Turley could do nothing, when, following his kickout, Neil Murray rose highest to claim, being fouled in the process. A quick free to Marc Brannigan, who deftly sidestepped Philip Martin to deliver a perfectly flighted ball, for his brother Seamus to palm into the net. Three points followed in rapid succession and the Ford left the field leading 1-09 to 0-7. The second half saw Bryansford nip into a seven point lead which they maintained to the fiftieth minute. Only a superb save from Ford keeper, Sean James Brannigan, dented the Loughinilsand advance but two goals, for Louginisland, inside four minutes left a solitary point between the teams. D. O’Toole raced in to claim and his pass was directed to the net by R. Mason. The same player then won and scored a penalty which set up a tension packed final five minutes. But it was the Ford who triumphed. A forty-five pointed by keeper Brannigan was promptly followed by a McKibben long range point which settled this tie with the Ford just about deserving the win.]]>
