Family Fund Charity Praised For Helping Families In South Down

South Down MP Margaret Ritchie has praised The Family Fund’s annual review in helping the lives of families with disabled children in South Down.

dn_screenShe said: “Over the past year, I am aware that The Family Fund has helped over 210 families in the South Down area, with grants worth £86,843. These grants have helped to ease the additional pressures parents face raising their dsabled or seriously ill children, pressures that I have highlighted in the parliamentary inquiry into childcare for disabled children.

“The importance of these grants are of huge significance to families with disabled children. Their quality of life is greatly improved through providing items such as clothing, bedding and kitchen supplies to much needed family breaks away.”

Margaret Ritchie MP has highlighted the importance of funding The Family Fund from the UK government and has also stressed that more needs to be one in order to be able to provide further support for families with disabled children in South Down.

She added: “I will continue to support this organisation through highlighting the importance of funding from the UK government, to ensure that more support is provided to families with disabled children.”
