Alliance Councillor Patrick Clarke has welcomed recent clearance works carried out by Forest Service to remove overgrown vegetation and tree branches along Mill Hill, Castlewellan and making a clearance to view Castlewellan Castle which was completed in recent weeks.

He said: “Some time ago I met with Forest Service to discuss making a clearance along Mill Hill in order for people to view Castlewellan Castle which Forest Service agreed to carry out in the autumn. “There were a stretch of overgrown trees along Mill Hill which branches were protruding over the boundary wall as well as ivy along the top of the boundary wall which Forest Service have now cleared and tidied. “Forest Service have also thinned out overgrown trees along Mill Hill so a view of Castlewellan Castle can now be seen from the main road and footpath which previously could not be seen. “I would like to thank Forest Service for carrying out the clearance works removing overgrown vegetation and trees from behind the boundary wall running along Mill Hill and for also making a clearing to view Castlewellan Castle.”
