South Eastern Regional College (SERC) is now enrolling for part-time courses commencing in January 2019.
Over 30,000 students join a part-time course at SERC each year for a range of vocational, academic and leisure courses to pursue a career goal, for professional development or simply for fun.
SERC offers an extensive range of courses at different levels and durations allowing you to fit study around, work, family and personal life.
The benefits of vocational education have helped many SERC students get promoted, retrain in a new career, and get back into education to further their ambitions.
Former student Alan Patterson who studied for an HND Construction and the Built Environment secured a promotion following completion of his course. Alan said “I was nervous about returning to education, but I can safely say it was the best thing I have ever done. Everyone was so friendly and the smaller class sizes suited me. My advice to others is to attend the open day and speak to the tutors and careers staff about their options.”
Employers in Northern Ireland need staff with the right skills and knowledge to take advantage of new opportunities and to meet the challenges the economy is facing. SERC has developed a range of career specific qualifications to help the local community reach their employment potential.
For vocational courses there is a 25 percent reduction for those aged 60 or over at time of enrolment. SERC is the only College in Northern Ireland offering an over 60’s concession. There is also a 50 percent reduction for those receiving guaranteed pension credit, rate relief, working tax credit, income-based employment and support allowance, income support and income-based jobseeker’s allowance, again this applies to vocational courses only.
SERC Principal and Chief Executive Ken Webb said “We are delighted to offer a wide range of part-time opportunities for local people that could open the doors to transform their future. Vocational education and training play a vital role in preparing people for the work environment through hands-on learning, offering local employers with appropriately skilled and trained people.
“I would like to encourage perspective students to visit our part-time open evening to find out how we can help them realise their ambitions.”
Whether you are looking for a part-time course to further your current career or the opportunity to take a complete career-change then come along to the Part-Time open evening on Wednesday 6 June between 4pm and 8pm, in Bangor, Downpatrick, Lisburn and Newtownards campuses where you can chat to tutors, get advice from careers advisers and find out more about the part-time courses on offer.
SERC also offer a range of payment options and students can pay in instalments to help spread the cost of courses over £300.
