Two buildings along Main Street Dundrum are set to get a cosmetic facelift in the coming weeks thanks to funding secured from Down Rural Area Partnership (DRAP) and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE).
The former Castle Vaults Bar at the corner of the Manse Road and Main Street and the Church of Ireland Old School House at the corner of School Hill and Main Street will both be cleaned, repainted and have mock windows fitted and floral decorations to ‎improve the run-down buildings.
Alliance Councillor Patrick Clarke has welcomed the work to be carried out on the two derelict buildings. He said:Â “Both the former Castle Vaults Bar and the Church of Ireland Old School House are buildings which feature prominently along Main Street Dundrum.
“Funding was identified from the Down Rural Area Partnership and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive which will allow the two derelict buildings to get a cosmetic facelift.”
“Minor works will include repainting the buildings including preparation work such as cleaning the facades, brackets and other fixtures and fittings. Mock windows will also be fitted and floral decorations.
‎”I would like to thank Dundrum Village Association who applied for the grant funding and County Down Rural Community Network for also assisting in securing the funding improve the condition of these two buildings.”
