Drumaness Mills Too Strong For Tullycarnet FC In Clarence Cup Round One Match

The NAFL.

Clarence Cup Round One,

Venue, Meadowvale on 28 12 24,

Final Score: Drumaness Mills 7 V 0  Tullycarnet FC

Drumaness Mills took on Tullycarnet FC at Meadowvale for this Clarence Cup 1st round clash and by half-time they had the game won with five unanswered goals writes Cyril McKinney.

Tullycarnet started the game well and went on the offensive from the whistle but once Drumaness settled into their rhythm they took the lead on 7 minutes through Jamie Sharvin who got on the end of a great right wing cross from Declan Looney and fired home from close range.

Looney showed great determination, power and skill to make it 2-0 on 17 minutes as he cut in from the right wing and rifled a great shot past helpless James Larmour in the Tullycarnet nets.

The Drumaness front two of Sharvin and Callum Dougan were causing problems for the Tullycarnet defence and it was no surprise when Dougan made it 3-0 on 31 minutes slotting home from a right wing corner.

Things got worse for the visitors on 39 minutes when Keegan Domican was up-ended in the box and Dougan made it 4-0 from the spot before completing his hat trick on 43 minutes when Adam Kearney was upended in the box.

Declan Looney on the ball for Drumaness is challenged by Tullycarnet’s Dylan Cummins.

Up stepped Dougan and sent the keeper the wrong way to leave it 5-0 at the break. Had the home side made full value of their chances in the first half it could have easily been 7 or 8 nil whereas the visitors had no shots on target.

With the game won Drumaness never got out of second gear in the second half despite scoring a 6th goal on 52 minutes from a Peter Brannigan free from just outside the box.

Substitute Conor McCourty completed the scoring on 80 minutes with a smart finish while Tullycarnet to their credit kept trying to get forward but just could not find a way past the Drumaness rearguard  and with better finishing Drumaness could have and should have added to their tally of goals.

Tullycarnet’s Matthew Graham is pressed by Drumaness forward Jamie Sharvin.
