We would like to congratulate the ladies who were crowned league champions last Wednesday night after securing a 9 – 2 victory against Bangor Ladies and their nearest rivals St James’s Swifts losing their fixture.
Downpatrick’s goals were scored by Aimee Higgins Hat-Trick, Kyla Trainor double, Morgan Shannon, Jenny Fitzsimons, Donna-Marie Carson & Caiomhe Robinson. This week the ladies play PSNI at the New Forge. This game kicks off at 7.30pm. Please note that the ladies will be presented with the league trophy at their next home game which is on Wednesday 15th August in Dunleath.
* The club will be holding their annual soccer funweek on Monday 13th to Friday 17th August from 6.30pm – 8.00pm in St Dillon’s Avenue, it costs £15.00 for the first child, £10.00 for the child etc… For more information contact Paul Moore on 07549 661772.
* The first team returned to league action on Saturday when they travelled to play Albert Foundry at Paisley Park, despite coming away with a 4 nil defeat the young and inexperienced team played some decent football and can take great heart from their performance. This week they play Immaculata away on Thursday evening at Grosvenor Recreation Centre. This game kicks off at 7.30pm. Then on Saturday we welcome Bangor Amateurs to Rosconnor in the first round of the Steel & Sons Cup, this match kicks off at 2.30pm.
* Open training sessions for our 2008’s age group are on Monday 13th August in St Dillon’s from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. All old and new players welcome.
* Training for our 2007’s began on Monday night in St Dillon’s and will continue on 9th August from 6.30pm – 7.30pm.
* Training for our 2006’s began on Monday night in St Dillon’s and will continue on 13th August from 6.30pm – 7.30pm.
* Trials for our 2004’s & 2005’s age group which will be competing in the Downpatrick Youth League continue this week on Friday night from 5.00pm – 6.00pm. We are also looking for managers to look after this age group, any coaches which might be interested can contact Paul Moore on 07549 661772.
* Open training for our 2006’s continuing on Saturday morning in St Dillon’s from 11.00am to 12.00pm. All old and new players are welcome to attend, we are especially looking for a goal-keeper.
