Downpatrick FC Club Notes – Week Beginning 20/09/21
Downpatrick firsts fell to a disappointing defeat in the second round of the Border Cup on Saturday at Rosconnor. This week they welcome neighbours Newcastle to Rosconnor in the league and this match kicks off at 2.00pm writes Tony McShane.
The under 16’s found Dundela too strong in the Supplementary Cup on Saturday morning. This week they play Glentoran in the same competition, this match kicks off at 10.45am at Grove Playing Fields.
The under 14’s fell on the wrong side of a seven goal thriller on Saturday against Cregagh Wanderers. Downpatrick’s goals were scored by Oisin Hanna brace and Eoin Keenan. Man of the Match was Ryan Conway. The 14’s have no fixtures this week.
Downpatrick U13s also fell to a narrow defeat losing 2 – 1 at the hands of Bangor YM. Downpatrick’s goal was scored by Joe Rogan. This Saturday they play Newhill at Falls Park, this match kicks off at 11am.
The under 12s kicked off their campaign with an emphatic result against Newcastle in Dunleath. Goals scored by Alfie Oakes, Cabhan Peacock, Nathan McAteer, James Green, Callum Sinclair and Ben Sharvin. This Saturday they play Rossglass in Dunleath at 10.20am.
Both under 11’s travelled out to Ballyhornan on Saturday morning for their 9-a-side matches, both teams enjoyed plenty of game time. This Saturday the Tigers play Strangford at 9.30am and the Lions play Tollymore at 11.30am.
The Mini soccer section began last Sunday morning at the Red High, in a pressure free environment with plenty of touches for all players. These matches continue this Sunday with the coaches being in touch with the details soon.
Training for all teams will now move to the Red High 3G pitch from Monday 27th September. details will be sent out from managers this week.
