Downpatrick Community Collective organises Ballyhornan beach party
Downpatrick Community Collective hosted their annual community beach party event on Sunday 21 August at Ballyhornan Beach.
Newry Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Michael Savage, attended this family fun beach party which was funded by the Council, Finnebrogue Artisan and Asda.
From BBQ’s and Beach Sports Activities to Tug of War Competitions as well as an organised Beach Clean-up, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Attendees also had an opportunity to assist Downpatrick Community Collective, Deputy Chairperson Councillor Cadogan Enright, plant native species of plants among the Marram Grass to help prevent soil erosion adding to the diversity of plant life at Ballyhornan Beach.
Downpatrick Community Collective Chairman Dan McEvoy said: “We’d like to thank all our sponsors for their kind support. This was our annual event at Ballyhornan and once again it was a great success and a fun time was had by all with children’s activities, tug-of-war, bubble making, music by DJ Duff, tasty BBQ burgers and other treats all against the superb backdrop of Ballyornan beach on a sunny day.
“The collective of resident’s community groups in Downpatrick supports a number of events an we are looking forward to covering the Culture night in September.
