Downe Hospital nurse retires after four decades in nursing

After a career spanning over four decades in nursing, Staff Nurse Dee Robinson bids a fond farewell from Ward 2 at the Downe Hospital marking the end of an era.

Staff nurse Dee Robinson has retired from Ward 2 at the Downe Hospital after over 40 years in nursing.

Dee’s nursing journey started in England and was driven by her desire and passion to help those most in need.

Upon her return to Northern Ireland, Dee dedicated her skills and expertise to caring for patients at Belvoir Park Hospital and Downe Hospital.

Throughout her remarkable career, Dee embodied the true essence of nursing, empathy, dedication and commitment to patient care.

Her compassionate approach endeared her to both patients and colleagues, earning her the utmost respect and admiration.

As Dee enters the next chapter in life, her retirement, her absence from Ward 2 in the Downe Hospital will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of working alongside her.  

Reflecting on her career, Dee said: “Throughout my nursing career it has been a privilege to work alongside such wonderful colleagues.

“Thank you to everyone who has been part of my nursing journey over the years.”

Dee will be remembered for her excellence and kindness to both colleagues and the patients she cared for over the years.

Ward Manager, Caroline Smith added: “Throughout her career, Dee has always demonstrated excellence and compassion and has been a dedicated member of the nursing team in Ward 2 in the Downe Hospital. 

“We will miss Dee very much and wish her all the best in her much deserved retirement.”
