Come and get your hands in the earth for Earth Day events in Castlewellan Community Centre.
On Saturday 20 April the Dolmens Climate Action Network is inviting you to a celebration of food, nature and community.
Everyone is welcome!
Tara Haughian said: “Our members have arranged a lovely afternoon between 11am and 2pm where you can come along and plant some seeds to take home.
“We have some seedlings that are already growing on a bit and you can take these home and transplant them in your own garden and enjoy the delicious produce later in the year.
“We have some DIY bee and bug hotels to make and bring home as well that may be just as enjoyable for adults as well as children.
“Making these mini habitats is a great way to support our very important pollinators.
“So it’s time to get out into nature and enjoy a guided walk up Bunkers Hill and on return to the Community Centre there’s a chance to join in some Earth singing and to finish it all off, we will have pizza and soup.
“It will all be homemade and even better, made with ingredients that were donated from Fair Shares which collects food just at its best-before date and otherwise, if not sold, it would end up in landfill.”
Tara added: “During the day there will be also be the chance to get some gardening advice from some of our more experienced gardeners who will be on hand and helping out at the event.
