DOWNPATRICK  Sinn Féin councillor Liam Johnston has repeated calls to get a new amenity centre in Downpatrick.
Councillor Johnston said: “For the last eight years since I have been in Down District Council a new civic amenity centre was earmarked for Downpatrick, but has still not materialized. “With the weather improving and more garden waste being produced more and more pressure is being put on the existing site, and the need for a new site is paramount. “The present site has served its purpose well but is now seriously out of date. There is a cause for concern here that an accident could happen at anytime. “I am calling on Council to provide a new civic amenity centre as soon as possible, and I will continue to lobby them on this matter,” added Councillor Johnston. ]]>
