Slieve Croob Independent Councillor Patrick Clarke has welcomed written confirmation from Transport NI regarding a traffic calming scheme to extend the existing 40 mph speed limit on the Bann Road, Castlewellan.
He said: “I welcome that the existing 40 mph speed limit will shortly be extended further country bound on the A50 Bann Road, Castlewellan together with the introduction of enhanced signs and red textured surfacing on both the A25 Dublin road and A50 Bann Road.
“I have received confirmation from Transport NI that the legislation associated with the extension to the 40mph speed limit on the A50 Bann Road, Castlewellan, as part of the traffic calming scheme, is now complete and the associated signs are due to be erected shortly.
“This traffic calming scheme aims to further highlight the speed limit to drivers along both routes on the Dublin and Bann roads with Transport NI hoping to have this work completed before the July holidays.
“I would like to thank Transport NI for implementing the extension of the 40mph speed limit on the Bann Road.”
