Chair of Comber Commerce Group, Irene McBride, said she was delighted to begin to see how the works will transform the town centre. She explained: “This feels like a milestone to begin to see the results of the ongoing Public Realm project in our town.
“There has been some disruption in the town, although Ards Borough Council, Aecom and FP McCann Ltd have made every effort to keep this to a minimum and I feel confident now that it will be well worth the wait.”
In Comber the £2.4 million Public Realm scheme aims to develop the character and identity of the town by drawing on its rich heritage and incorporating paving features, highlighting topics of local interest.
Lighting columns and street furniture have been carefully selected to reflect the historic character of the town.
