Clarke says External House Cycle Maintenance Scheme coming to Newcastle
Sinn Féin Councillor Willie Clarke has welcomed the news that an External Cycle Maintenance Scheme (ECM) is about to get underway in Newcastle, it covers Ardkeel Park, Bernagh Green, Mourne Green & Dunwellan Park.
He said that when this scheme is finished another ECM will start in the Burrendale.
Cllr Clarke added: “I am pleased that this External Cycle Maintenance scheme is about to get underway.
“It was very clear the external appearance of many homes had suffered as a result of long exposure to the elements and residents are entitled to expect that the properties are kept adequately maintained, these areas have become tired and run down in appearance.
These schemes cover a wide range of external home improvements, these works include replacing/repairing gutters, fascia, tiles, lead valleys etc, power hosing yards and paths. It does not include new doors or windows.
“I will be working with residents and the Housing Executive to ensure that the work is carried out as quickly and efficiently as possible.
“The Housing Executive are offering Housing Executive tenants gas heating to everyone with a heating system over 15 years old.
“The Housing Executive are anticipating having CCTV installed to all blocks of flats in the Burrendale Estate by late summer which will improve local security.”
