Under-10 Hurling – Castlewellan again fielded three teams in the Down indoor league. A total of twenty two players took part with two teams at De La Salle Downpatrick and one at Banbridge leisure centre. With three of the older players unavailable this week some of the younger lads stepped in and performed really well. All of the boys got plenty of game time. The only hiccup was the old man arriving late but thankfully ‘Hop a long’ passed a late fitness test was able to drive the bus. Under-10 Camogie – the indoor league started on Saturday past for our girls at this age group. They competed against Liatriom A and B, Bredagh and Bunscoil Dun Phadraig. The girls performed really well winning one game, drawing two and losing one. This was their first taste of playing opposition from further afield. The girls adapted very well and enjoyed themselves. Well done to them all. The girls playing on the day were; Niamh Gibney, Molly McAlinden, Clara Rogan, Aine Hawkins, Dianaimh O’Donnell, Emma, Aislinn and Emily. The girls are looking forward to the next day out. The first match in the Ulster Club Hurling League Division 4 match between Castleblayney Faughs and An Baile which was to be held at the Monaghan venue was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. It was rather unfortunate for one of our players who made the journey all the way from Eastern Europe for the game. His commitment is without question. Always check the weather before you travel as your mother would say! All coaches and mentors of our underage teams are reminded that they must complete the Access NI forms. The forms can be obtained from the Club. Please pass those forms to Miceal Crilly as soon as possible. Castlewellan GAC are now on the social networking site Facebook. All members to the site are responsible for their own comments. Any comments deemed inappropriate will be removed from the site. The Senior Ladies Team require a manager for the incoming year. Anyone interested in managing the Team should contact any member of the Executive Committee as soon as possible. Registration continues every Thursday until the end of February at 8.00pm in the Club. All players must remember that they need to have their membership renewed/insurances paid before they can play again in the new season. The indoor hurling continues on Thursday nights in St Malachy’s Primary School.
