The renowned Institute of Directors Northern Ireland (IoD NI) Director of the Year Awards took place this year at Belfast’s Merchant Hotel and with Joanne Molloy of TS Foods in Castlewellan picked up a coveted award.
The Commercial Director of the Castlewellan-based food company was nominated by her fellow board members in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the company over the last 12 months. TS Foods was formed in 1978 by husband and wife team Tony and Ann Steele.
The awards are designed to celebrate strong leadership and corporate governance, and recognise excellence across the business community, with Joanne was entered into the Family Business Director of the Year category.
Brian McErlain of Genesis Bakery picked up the award at the ceremony, but Joanne received the only ‘Highly Commended’ award of the day due to the standard of her entry.
The award was sponsored by BDO, with their Tax and Wealth Management Partner Maybeth Shaw commenting:
‘The awards are designed to celebrate strong leadership and corporate governance, and recognise excellence across the business community.
As sponsors of the Family Business Director of the Year award, we were greatly impressed with the high standard of entries in the category.
Joanne Molloy’s strong belief that company vision, mission and values are crucial in providing a roadmap for success, together with her commitment to ensuring the highest standards of corporate governance across all levels in the business, particularly impressed the judging panel and led us to acknowledge her as Highly Commended in the category.’
Joanne Molloy also added: “It was fantastic to be nominated and shortlisted in the first place, but to receive this award on the day is very special. It’s is a reflection of not just my efforts, but those of the whole management team at TS Foods.
“We pride ourselves in taking a proactive approach to leadership and business growth and I am delighted to receive an accolade in recognition of this.”
