Ballywalter Too Strong For Ballynahinch United

NAFL

Division 1B – League Match

Ballynahinch United  0  Ballywalter Recreation  2

United entertained Ballywalter Recreation in this NAFL Div 2 league match at Millbridge last Saturday and despite a spirited performance they could not secure the vital points that might have given them a glimmer of hope in avoiding relegation.

United attacked from the first kick off but they could not get past a determined Ballywalter defence which cleared its lines with ruthless efficiency.

The visitors took the lead after 20 minutes when Scott Brashaw was adjudged to have handled in an attempt to deflect a shot on goal. The resulting spot kick was dispatched into the net despite a great attempt to save it by Brian McMullan.

In the second half United dominated most of the play and the closest they went was a free kick from Stuart McMullan which cannoned off the crossbar.

Ballywalter secured the three points after seventy minutes with a shot that went in off the post and while United rallied in the closing quarter they could not breakdown a formidable defence.

Missing a number of key players United took the opportunity to give outings to teenagers Ross Murray, Dylan Fitzpatrick and Scott Cheevers who all did very well when they came on. This week United travel to Grove United in the league.

BUFC NOTES
The committee and members of Ballynahinch United would like to express their appreciation to Aaron Ferris and the Ulster Property Services Ballynahinch for their continued sponsorship of the club. This funding and that provided by other businesses within the Ballynahinch area is most important to the club specifically in its efforts to maintain the Millbridge complex.
