Ballynahinch RFC Reports For 19 March 2017

This was a rest week for Hinch 1’s and with the 2’s playing on Thursday night, a quiet weekend at Ballymacarn, with only the mighty Evergreens heading towards another Cup Final match after roundly beating Belfast Harlequins 4’s in the Butler Shield writes Richard Hart.

Ballynahinch RFC 1st XV were free.

The Evergreens.

Ballynahinch 2’s hosted Banbridge 2’s at Ballymacarn under floodlights on Thursday evening, winning a hard fought encounter 26-8.

Ballynahinch 3’s travelled away to play Ballyclare 2’s, coming away the victors by 5-41

Ballynahinch 4’s were free.

The Evergreens in a scrum with Belfast Harlequins.

Ballynahinch 5’s were on the end of a hard lesson in rugby from a very strong Malone 3’s, losing 59-10.

Ballynahinch 6’s hosted Ballyclare 4’s and held off the Antrim attack for most of the match, losing 15-31.

Evergreens hosted Belfast Harlequins 4’s, besting the visitors 34-0 and advance to the next stage of the Butler Shield.

The Hinch Ladies were free.

Mini Rugby continues at Ballynahinch RFC and is held each Saturday morning from 9.30-11am. Ballynahinch RFC caters for boys and girls who have started in P1 up to Yr8 (U12’s), with training running for each age group in school years – P1 to P7 + Yr8’s. This weekend sees Ballynahinch RFC 1st XV make the long journey to Shannon for the next match in the All Ireland league. Nothing less than a win will suffice as the Ballymacarn team strive to retain their position in Division 1B of the Ulster Bank League. Separately, at Ballymacarn Park, there will be a pre-match lunch in advance of the River Rock Towns Cup Semi-Final for Ballynahinch 2s v Clogher Valley on Saturday 25th March – places for the lunch can be booked through Mervyn Boyd – 07794744716
