Award Winning Play Coming To Down Arts Centre

Down Arts Centre, in association with Loco and Reckless Productions, is delighted to present award winning play ‘The Man In The Woman’s Shoes’ on Friday 17 November.

Set in October 1978 – Pope John Paul I is not long dead, autumn is closing in and Pat Farnon has ‘some business’ to do in town.

Don’t miss the award winning play, The Man in the Woman’s Shoes, at the Down Arts Centre in Downpatrick, performed and written by Mikel Murfi.

Written and performed by Mikel Murfi, ‘The Man in the Woman’s Shoes’ follows Pat Farnon as he walks to town and back again. It is a beautifully observed piece, utterly simple and Murfi’s remarkable acting has been widely praised.

Originally commissioned by Sligo County Council Arts Service and The Hawk’s Well Theatre, Sligo as part of the Bealtaine Festival 2012, this delightful one-man show has toured to Manhattan and Philadelphia in 2015 as well as a sell out, three week run at the Abbey Theatre on the Peacock stage in Dublin. In 2016 it returned to New York City and also played to full houses over three weeks at the Tricycle Theatre in London.

A charming tale of love, loneliness and belonging in rural Ireland during the 1970’s, The Man in the Woman’s Shoes is tender, heart-warming and hilariously good fun. You might just fall in love with life again.

Tickets are £12 each and £10 concession. The show starts at 8pm, with bar facilities from 7pm.
