Man gets two months in prison for drugs offences
A 36-year-old man from Newtownards was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment at Newtownards Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 1st October, following his conviction for drugs offences.
Niki Robert Gallagher was given a two month custodial sentence for being concerned in the supply of a class A controlled drug and two months for being concerned in the supply of a class B controlled drug. Both sentences will be served concurrently.
He also received a monetary penalty for possession of a class A controlled drug.
Gallagher was arrested following a search of a property in Newtownards in June 2023.
A mobile phone was seized and following an examination of the device, messaging was found alluding to the Mr Gallagher being involved in the supply of Class A and Class B Controlled drugs.
On Thursday 17th of August 2023 he was arrested at an address in Newtownards and later charged for the offences of being concerned in the supply of a class A controlled drug, being concerned in the supply of a class B controlled drug and possession of a class A controlled drug.
On Wednesday 12th June 2024 he was convicted of these offences. Today, Mr Gallagher received his sentence.
Detective Sergeant Hyslop from PSNI’s Organised Crime Branch said: “We will continue to robustly and proactively pursue those involved in drug supply, at all levels, arrest them and bring them before the courts.”
