Alliance meets with key stakeholders to discuss future of Quoile Countryside Centre
South Down MLA Patrick Brown and Downpatrick Councillor Cadogan Enright last week met with key stakeholders at the Quoile Countryside Centre to discuss plans for the future of the Centre.
Patrick Brown MLA said: ‘I was joined by my Alliance colleague Councillor Cadogan Enright for a very productive meeting with Dr Mark Hammond of the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA).
“Also in attendance were representatives of the Clean up the Quoile group and other stakeholders on the future of the Quoile Countryside Centre.
“The Centre has so much potential as a facility for education and enjoyment, and I would love to see that potential maximised for the next generation.
“I would personally love to see the Centre reopened with a café and serving as a base and refreshment spot for visitors to the Quoile area.
“I am particularly pleased at the commitment from NIEA to further explore how this vision can be achieved, and look forward to working with them to develop these plans as part of Alliance’s vision to Restore our County Town.”
Cllr Cadogan added: “Our Alliance team along with key stakeholder groups have been working on improvements to the Quoile Countryside Centre for some time.
“This was a very positive meeting with some great ideas shared on how to reopen the Centre to benefit the whole community.
“If this can be done in a sustainable, environmentally friendly way, I believe it would be a huge asset to the Quoile and our wider area.
“This project is a fantastic opportunity for the Quoile and the wider area, and I look forward to working with NIEA, Clean up the Quoile and my Alliance colleagues to further achieve this.”
