A man is in hospital following a one-car accident on the Ballynahinch-Downpatrick Road.
Police are investigating a single-vehicle road traffic incident on the main Ballynahinch / Downpatrick Road last night (Saturday, 9 November).
Inspector Brian Mills said: “At around 10.50pm, officers were on patrol on Downpatrick Road when they came across a tree down on the road. They subsequently investigated and located a black Renault Clio in a nearby field with a male occupant inside the vehicle who was injured.
“NIAS were called and attended the scene and the man was transferred to hospital for treatment for his injuries, and he remains in hospital today.
“The Downpatrick Road, Ballynahinch remained closed this morning as officers continued with their enquiries, but it has now been opened.
“I want to appeal to anyone who may have been travelling on the Downpatrick Road last night between 10pm and 10. 50pm and believes they may have witnessed what occurred, or captured what occurred on their dash cam to call us on 101, and quote reference number 1809 of 09/11/19.”
Road conditions were poor at the time of the crash following a day of very heavy rain with some parts of the roads around Down badly flooded.
