Mourne Mountain Adventure Teams Ready for Action

PSNI Officers from Ards Peninsula Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) have been training two cross community teams from Kircubbin NRGxa0and Greyabbey Youth Club to take part in this years Mourne Mountain Adventure on 26 and 27 April.

Over 76 teams of six youths between the ages of 13 and 18 will take part in the event which is sponsored by Newry and Mourne District Council, Down District Council, The National Trust, NIFRS, PSNI, MOD and NI Water.dn_screen

Both the Expedition and Adventure levels will have three phases each including a hike in the Mourne Mountains, Dundrum Bay rib crossing and the Ballykinler Training Centre challenge in addition to overnight camping in Kilbroney Forest Park and Tollymore Forest Park respectively.

“Each member of both teams has shown admirable dedication and appear to have thoroughly enjoyed the training sessions;” says Con Cliff Burns Peninsula Neighbourhood Policing team.

“The event allows the teams to show the skills they have learned such as team building, decision-making and stamina, which I hope they will then put to good use in their every day lives.”
