One of the attractions at the Kilcoo show was the threshing machine which was given a demonstration to the crowd showing everyone how the hay was baled in the old days. The Allan Mill machine owned by Richard McKibben was bought in Co Down at the Harry Ferguson factory in Belfast and has spent its whole working life in East Down. The first owners were the Gill family from Chapeltown near Ardglass who paid £600 for it in 1942. The machine was towed back to Chapeltown by an Austin A16!
