In Killyleagh on Wednesday afternoon (8 April 2015),  a police spokesperson reported that with holiday makers heading back home at the end of the Easter Break and with the warmest day of the year so far, Police were called to deal with an incident that could easily have led to the loss of life of a teenage boy.
He said: “The teenager received a single punch to the face, causing him to fall and strike his head on the pavement. He suffered a severe head bleed as well as a split lip, damaged eye and was knocked unconscious. It was a nasty injury. “However he may consider himself lucky, as Just One Punch is all it takes, and it could have been so much worse and a family, community and friends could be all have been preparing for a funeral.
“One arrest followed and a youth is helping us with our enquiries.”

Rowallene Councillor Billy Walker called for calm in Killyleagh and said that there is no room for violence in our society. “One punch can kill, and this teenager was very lucky not to have been a fatal victim. People must desist from this sort of violence. The consequences can be too great and affect many people’s lives,” he said.
