SINN Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane has met with tennis clubs from across South Down in order to look at ways at supporting the sport in the area. Ms. Ruane said: “I recently held a very constructive meeting with the Ulster Tennis association looking at ways of bringing the sport of tennis to more people and supporting the existing clubs across the North. “In a follow up meeting I have now met with a wide range of clubs from the South Down area on Friday to discuss the promotion of the sport. We looked at issues as court provision and the extension of tennis courts being provided in parks in the area. “As a former international tennis player I am aware that tennis is a great way to keep active and fit so it is important that the sport is accessible, affordable and has proper facilities available throughout the area. “I was encouraged by the message and commitment of the clubs present to the sport and I would urge people who are interested in tennis to join a club so as to get the most from the sport .”]]>
