Shimna Stars Presented With Glenn McBride Cup

Shimna Stars SOC are presented with memorial cup from family of the late Glenn McBride

The Shimna Stars Special Olympic Club based in Newcastle had given a big thank you to Jennifer McBride and Debbie Stovell, mother and sister of the club’s late dear friend Glenn McBride, for presenting the Shimna Stars with the Glenn McBride Memorial Cup.

“The cup was accepted by the senior boys’ captain Liam Hennessey, and it will be presented to an athlete at our end of year summer party,” said Laurence McAlinden, club spokesman.

“Glenn was one of Shimna Stars most loyal, kind and determined athletes, and his Memorial Cup will be awarded to an athlete who embodies Glenn’s attributes.

“We as a club are extremely proud to continue Glenn’s legacy.”

The Shimna Stars are a basketball-based club which provided a sporting platform for those with a learning difficulty.

Family members with club athletes and volunteers.
