Shimna Stars Enjoy Tenth Anniversary Gala Dinner

Shimna Stars Special Olympics Club celebrated their tenthxa0Anniversary in style with a Gala Dinner held in the Burrendale Hotel last Friday evening.

Newry Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Cllr Roisin Mulgrew, Shimna Stars club manager daniel Hardy, and and Laurence McAlinden, Shimna Stars publicity officer.

Laurence McAlinden, spokesman for the club, said: “Following a superb meal served by the Burrendale staff, club manager Daniel Hardy thanked everyone for their attendance, support and assistance over the years and most recently in organising, promoting and making the event possible.

“Newry Mourne and Down District Chairperson Roisin Mulgrew also thanked the Club for the invitation to attendxa0and expressed her support for community initiatives and encouraged all to continue their support for the Club.

“Andrew from Down Discos rounded off the evening with an excellent selection of music and fun for all the members present and the organisers and volunteers.

“Thanks those who donated prizes, purchased raffle tickets or assisted in any way.

“Prizes were donated by La Belle Femme Beauty Salon Newcastle, Joe’s Quality Meats Newcastle, Burrendale Hotel and Country Club, JR’s Discount Store Castlewellan, Cushla’s Beauty Salon Clough, The Power House Castlewellan, The Turkish Barber, Newcastle, andxa0also the family members who donated prizes.

“And thanks to the Burrendale staff for the excellent meal and service also to the staff at The Cake Station in Newcastle who supplied the Anniversary Cake.”
