Saintfield Hikers To Fundraise in NSPCC HACK

Joanne, Sarah and Jeffrey have plenty of experience to fall back on as they Joanne added that  Sarah and Jeffrey had already  completed their silver Duke of Edinburgh awards. She said, “I enjoy hiking trips with a group from my church, the ‘weekend strollers’, We have been on hikes to Connemara, Rathlin Island and the Lake District.” [caption id="attachment_25798" align="alignleft" width="400" caption="Joanne and Sarah Carlisle with Jeffrey Kirk all set to walk in the NSPCC HACK. "][/caption] Describing the trio’s training regime, Joanne said, “The three of us had been going out hiking before we signed up for the event but due to some good old Northern Ireland weather, work commitments and my sister’s wedding, we haven’t had the chance to get out recently.  That said, we hope to get out a good few times before 17th September. “We decided to raise money for NSPCC Northern Ireland because it’s such a worthy cause.  We know the money we raise will be able to go towards making a difference in childrens’ lives in Northern Ireland – children who maybe haven’t had the best start in life or are struggling with issues that the NSPCC counsellors and therapeutic teams can help them to get through.  All three of us have been enjoying the hikes we have been on so far, enjoying the craic and company, and thought why not do it but do it for a good cause and make it worthwhile for others? “I hope that lots of local people will sign up for the event, enjoy the HACK and the craic and comradeship along the journey, and plenty of money will be raised and the NSPCC cause highlighted to others.” Encouraging the people of Saintfield to get involved, Joanne added: “NSPCC helps give vulnerable children a voice – every child deserves to grow up in a secure environment with happiness and love.” Karen Walker, NSPCC community fundraising manager, said, “The HACK’s are a real physical challenge but so enjoyable. We are grateful to all participants for getting involved, and wish everyone the very best of luck with their training and as they tackle the day itself. With hundreds of walkers taking part, it’s destined to be a fantastic event.” The registration fee is £20.
