SINN Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane has met with local chairperson of the GAA Malachy McCourt to offer her support to Rostrevor GAA in their development plan.
Ms. Ruane said: “St Bronagh’s GAC in Rostrevor has instigated a seven year development plan to coincide with their 100th anniversary and I am totally supportive of the proposal. The development will include two new pitches, an all weather pitch, floodlights, walking track and a new car park.
“At present St Bronagh’s has over 600 members including eleven teams catering for men and women from juniors through to seniors.
“St Bronagh’s has played a huge part in cultural activities in the Rostrevor area and I am sure that they will achieve a first class facility to mark their 100 years.
“I would call on the local community to get behind St Bronagh’s in delivering this project by joining Friends of Rostrevor and create a facility that will see St Bronagh’s begin another century of service to the local community.
Newry and Mourne Councillor Mick Murphy added: “I would like to commend St Bronagh’s GAC not only for their work within the local community but for having a vision that will continue to cater for future generations.
“This is an impressive plan that will provide first class sporting facilities for the entire community and I look forward in working closely with the management team in bringing this project to fruition.”
