Gethin Hughes, spokesman for the Rostrevor Men’s Shed, has reported that the shed members have had a brilliant week!
He said: “It was an extremely busy week for Rostrevor Men’s Shed. At the beginning of the week members of the Shed made the long journey to Cork to attend the biennial Irish Men’s Shed Gathering.
“Every two years the Irish Men’s Shed Association hosts an event bringing together all the Shed’s of Ireland to celebrate great achievements, share ideas and meet new friends.
“This year the event was held in Páirc Ui Chaoimh in Cork, an inspirational venue to hear from inspirational speakers such as Irish Olympian David Gillick and Munster and Ireland rugby legend Donncha O’Callaghan.
“The Rostrevor Men’s Shed has had the privilege of being chosen to be filmed for a ‘Shed Stories’ presentation which was shown to over 300 Men’s Shed members from across the whole of Ireland.
“It was a fantastic two days, and the members who attended were inspired by what was being achieved throughout the country and by the wonderful feedback they were receiving about the amazing work being done in Rostrevor.
“On Saturday 15th of September Rostrevor Men’s Shed welcomed members of the Virginia Men’s Shed from County Cavan to their Shed.
“After a warm welcome and some refreshments the guests were given a presentation from Connor Sweeney who discussed the history, the projects and the work of the Rostrevor Shedders in the community.
“This was followed by a walk around the woodwork shed, the garden and the polytunnel. This is where Rostrevor Shedders excel… giving everyone a warm welcome. The guests were certainly impressed with what’s being achieved in Rostrevor Men’s Shed. Following the visit to our HQ, our guests treated the Shedders to lunch at the Rostrevor Inn.
“This was a fantastic week for Rostrevor Men’s Shed and the work of the Shed and the fun continues”, added Gethin.
