RGU Club Notes For 22 May 2016

It was a good weekend for theHoops with quite a few positive results.

The Seniors had a 4 point victory on Friday night against Annaclone though the margin didn’t do justice to the performance. Next up is a home game against St John’s on Friday night

The reserves also had a victory over the same opposition on Sunday .

The U-8's celebrate after the Saturday blitz.

The Senior girls had a good win away to Loughinisland on Saturday in very trying conditions whist the U14 girls also had a handsome win against Bredagh on Sunday.

The U14 boys fell away badly in the second half to Bredagh on Wednesday past after turning round 2 points to the good. A rather listless performance after the break saw Bredagh win with ease.

PTR played host to reams form Down Armagh and Antrim on Saturday in the first of our Annual Underage blitzes when the U8 tournament took place in great conditions. After the group stages separated the teams Bryansford annexed the Cup after a great final performance against St Peters Lurgan whilst in the Shield RGU overcame local rivals Saul in the final with Carryduff lifting the plate.

A big thank you everyone who organised the event on the field, administering the event, referring, catering , running the shop and organising the car park. A great day for the club.
Also on Saturday there was a very successful car wash to raise funds for the Feile. We will also be hosting a Fashion show on June 17th. Tickets are available from Brenda Murphy at a cost of £10 which includes a glass of Proseco.

Well done to Tim Prenter and Ronan Murphy who represented Down U 16 hurlers in Garvaghey on Saturday.

Hard luck to U14 girls Ami, Eimear, Eilis, Ciara and Cliona who were on the Down U14 team who lost out to Tyrone in the Ulster final on Saturday

Best wishes to Taylor Louden who is in the Down Minor Panel for this week’s Ulster MFC clash with Monaghan in Clones on Sunday evening. Scandalous decision to have this stand alone fixture so late on a weekend!

Mays 100 club draw will take place on Sunday Night. All returns to be in with collectors by Saturday 28th.

This weeks lotto result: Winning numbers were 7,8,19,28. Two shared £100. Next week the jackpot rises to £3900.

So soon after the passing of Past President Jack Boothman, it was with great sadness we have this weekend learned of the passing of another past president, Joe McDonagh who passed away at the age of 62 after a short illness. Ar Dhéis Dé go rabh a anam Uasal.
